Civic Involvement

Our civic activities include:

  • Represent area Muslims as a member of the faith community for disaster relief education and training sponsored by FEMA and CEMA.
  • Regularly represented in the Kansas City Star’s Faith Column
  • Active participation in the City of Olathe, Kansas Human Relations Commission.
  • Participated at the ‘National conference of voluntary organizations active in disaster relief’ (NVOAD), May, 2011.
  • MIC is officially represented on the Kansas City “Festival of Faith (FOF)” committee since April 2009. The FOF successfully planned and arranged a visit of the President Obama’s Muslim Faith minister Eboo Patel in Nov 2009.
  • Regularly participated in the Kansas City Table of Faith (TOF) Luncheon and award Ceremony since 2009.
  • Working to support the efforts of Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council.
  • MIC is officially represented in the Johnson County, Kansas branch of the national organization “Interfaith Hospitality Network” (A community response for homeless families.
  • Mentoring inmates in the US penitentiary, Levenworth, Kansas since 2009
  • Active Member of Johnson County Interfaith Hospitality Network (Sheltor in Olathe, KS) since 2009

Provided free services to our member organizations:

  • Collecting donations of non-perishable food items for distribution to needy people in the Kansas City area
  • Obtaining donations of used computers and peripherals for use in weekend school
  • Providing IT expertise in set up and running of computers at member organization’s school.
